Carboxymethyl cellulose is a product of the substitution of the carboxymethyl group of cellulose.Depending on its molecular weight or degree of substitution, it can be a completely dissolved or insoluble polymer, which can be used as a weakly acidic cation exchanger to separate neutral or alkaline proteins.Carboxymethyl cellulose can form high-viscosity colloids, solutions, adhesion, thickening, flow, emulsification and dispersion, shaping, water retention, protective colloids, film forming, acid resistance, salt resistance, suspension and other characteristics, and is physiologically harmless, so it is widely used in the production of food, medicine, daily chemicals, petroleum, papermaking, textiles, construction and other fields. Sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) is the most produced, most widely used and most convenient product in cellulose ethers, commonly known as "industrial monosodium glutamate".

Sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) is the most produced, most widely used and most convenient product in cellulose ethers, commonly known as "industrial monosodium glutamate".

1. It is used in oil and natural gas drilling, well drilling and other projects. CMC-containing mud can form a thin and firm filter cake with low permeability on the well wall, which reduces water loss. ② After adding CMC to the mud, the drilling rig can obtain a low initial shear force, making the mud easy to release the gas wrapped in it, and at the same time quickly discard the debris in the mud pit. ③Drilling mud, like other suspended dispersions, has a certain existence period. After adding CMC, it can stabilize and extend its existence period. ④Mud containing CMC is rarely affected by mold, so there is no need to maintain a high pH value and no need to use preservatives. ⑤It contains CMC as a treatment agent for drilling mud and well washing fluid, which can resist the pollution of various soluble salts. ⑥The mud containing CMC has good stability and can reduce water loss even if the temperature is above 150℃.

2. It is used in the textile and printing and dyeing industries. The textile industry uses CMC as a sizing agent for the light yarn of cotton, silk, chemical fibers, blended blends and other strong materials.

3. Used in the paper industry. CMC can be used as a paper smoothing agent and a gluing agent in the paper industry.Adding 0.1%~0.3% CMC to the pulp can increase the tension resistance of the paper by 40%~50%, increase the compressive cracking resistance by 50%, and increase the kneading resistance by 4 to 5 times.

4. CMC can be used as a dirt adsorbent when added to synthetic detergents; daily chemicals such as the toothpaste industry, the aqueous glycerol solution of CMC is used as the glue base of toothpaste; the pharmaceutical industry is used as a thickener and emulsifier; the aqueous solution of CMC is used as a planktonic mineral processing after thickening.

5. It is used in the ceramic industry as a blank adhesive, plasticizer, glaze suspension, color fixing agent, etc.

6. Used in construction to improve water retention and strength.

7. It is used in the food industry. The food industry uses high-purity CMC as a thickener for ice cream, canned food, quick-cooking noodles, foam stabilizer for beer, etc., and as a thickener, binder or shaping agent in the processing of jam, sugar juice, sherbet, snacks, ice cream beverages, etc.

8. The pharmaceutical industry selects the appropriate viscosity CMC as the adhesive, disintegrator, suspension aid, etc. for tablets.2. Extension: CMC with high viscosity and high degree of substitution is suitable for mud with low density, and CMC with low viscosity and high degree of substitution is suitable for mud with high density. The selection of CMC should be determined according to different conditions such as mud type, area, well depth, etc.The high-end alternative product of carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) is polyanionic cellulose ((PAC), which is also an anionic cellulose ether, which has a higher degree of substitution and substitution uniformity, a shorter molecular chain, and a more stable molecular structure. Therefore, it has better salt resistance, acid resistance, calcium resistance, high temperature resistance and other properties, and its solubility is also enhanced. It is used in all industries where carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) can be applied, which can provide better stable performance and meet higher process requirements.
